Who is the Mazda CX-50 for?
If we can recall, Mazda had earlier announced three brand-new new crossover SUV models for the US, including the Mazda CX-50. This new crossover has been mainly developed for the North American market and more so for the US and is aimed at customers with an active outdoor lifestyle. The CX-50 features a more rugged and completely new design. According to Mazda, the new vehicle encourages people to immerse themselves in nature without compromising on the premium design and outstanding on-road performance that the brand is known for.
What powers the Mazda CX-50?
The first-ever Mazda CX-50 will be equipped with Mazda’s powerful yet efficient naturally aspirated 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G 2.5 and Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engines at launch. These engines will be paired with a responsive six-speed automatic transmission. Although Mazda has not revealed the performance specs of these engines, the Japanese automaker has revealed that you can expect the CX-50 to get electrified powertrains, including a traditional hybrid model in the future. Mazda will share more details as the launch date approaches.
Mazda CX-50 Design
In terms of design, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 blends the brand’s minimalistic Kodo design language with a rugged outdoor capable presence, featuring a sleek, long silhouette and a wide stance, giving it dynamic proportions and balanced design elements geared toward outdoor ruggedness. The interior of the CX-50 is also well-crafted and appointed with driver-focused features.
Standard Al-Wheel Drive and Intelligent Drive Select
Apart from offering ample seating and cargo space, the Mazda CX-50 also features the latest standard i-Activ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology and the all-new Mazda Intelligent Drive Select, or Mi-Drive. These features emphasize Mazda’s trademark natural driving experience and help you drive more confidently both on and off the road. The Mazda CX-50 will also come with new drive modes, selectable using the Mi-Drive switch. These modes will help the crossover SUV achieve more natural driving dynamics in a variety of conditions, and at the same time, provide exceptional towing capabilities.
The first-ever Mazda CX-50 also debuts some first-ever features for Mazda, including an all-new panoramic moonroof and new color options, including Zircon Sand exterior paint and an available Terracotta interior color.
When will it be available and how much will it cost?
Mazda hasn’t revealed the exact launch date or pricing details of the CX-50. Still, we know it will begin production in January 2022, so it’s safe to assume that it will arrive at dealerships, including here at Turnersville Mazda, in the first half of 2022.
